President Hu Jintao in Beijing Wednesday afternoon with the state visit to China held talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak. Two leaders on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of exchange of views and reached important consensus.
Hu said China and South Korea established diplomatic relations 20 years, especially in the two countries established strategic partnership, bilateral relations forward. The two sides in political, economic, cultural exchanges and cooperation in the areas of expanding in the international and regional affairs to maintain good communication and coordination. South Korea’s government upholds the one China policy and Taiwan to China on such issues as understanding and support. We appreciate that.
Lee Myung-bak said South Korea relations this year is a year of significance. Establishment of diplomatic ties 20 years ago, bilateral relations have made great development in the increasingly close cooperation in various fields. Especially since the establishment of strategic partnership and bilateral relations continue to expand the depth and breadth of South Korea on the development of bilateral relations highly.
Hu said China and South Korea this year is the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the “China-ROK Friendship Exchange Year”, China will work with the ROK, as a new starting point, to maintain high-level exchanges, deepen mutual political trust, strengthen the government, parliament, political parties dialogue exchanges, and properly handle relevant sensitive issues and maintain the overall development of bilateral relations. Both sides should tap potential for cooperation, to improve the level of cooperation, expand trade, energy saving, high-tech, finance, logistics, e-commerce and other fields for the 2015 bilateral trade volume target of $ 300 billion to work together. China is ready to ROK will actively carry out cooperation within the framework of the existing high-tech joint R & D cooperation, and promote China-ROK Industrial Park building. We welcome the ROK enterprises to actively participate in China’s economic restructuring and industrial upgrading, increase investment in China, but also hoped that the ROK for the Chinese enterprises to invest in South Korea provide more convenience and support. China is ready to ROK to strengthen cultural, educational, sports, tourism and other fields, to support the two provinces and cities, civil society, media, youth exchange visits. I believe that through these exchanges will continue to promote friendship between the two peoples. China and South Korea in international and regional affairs, have broad common interests, the two sides should promote regional cooperation, strengthen multilateral coordination to jointly safeguard and promote world peace, stability and development.
Lee fully agreed with Hu on the importance of further development of bilateral relations between the views. He said relations between South Korea and South Korea has become one of the most important foreign relations. South Korea is pleased to see that the two sides to expand exchanges and cooperation, bilateral trade volume has been achieved ahead of target of $ 200 billion last year, personnel exchanges between the two countries has reached 6.5 million. On the Taiwan question, the ROK will continue to adhere to the one China principle.
the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Hu said that peace and stability on the Peninsula interest of all parties. We are ready to strengthen communication and coordination of all parties, continue to make unremitting efforts. Hope that the parties do more to help maintain and promote peace and stability of the peninsula. China will as always support the two sides to improve relations through dialogue and promote reconciliation and cooperation process.
Lee said the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, maintain peace and stability on the peninsula, South Korea and China is the common goal. ROK appreciates China’s great efforts to this end, expects China to continue to play an active role.
